Asian Research Center for Migration (ARCM)

ARCM developed from the original Indochinese Refugee Information Center (IRIC), originally established in 1987. ARCM has a wider brief than IRIC, with the specific aims:

Act as a centralised source of migration-related information for the South-East asia region, by researching and documenting regional migratory movements and the impacts of such movements
Conduct research on key migration topics, including migrant workers, refugees and other transborder movements of people
Strengthen links with other academic institutions, governments, NGOs and international organizations
Build a significant resource and information base, and disseminate information in relevant formats
Organize lectures, seminars, training and consultancies for individuals and organizations in the
Region

The Center for Migration Studies of New York (CMS), founded in New York in 1964, is one of the premier institutes for migration studies in the United States. It is committed to facilitating the study of sociodemographic, historical, economic, political, legislative and pastoral aspects of human migration and refugee movements.

A range of publications are available including:

The International Migration Review (IMR)
A refereed interdisciplinary quarterly journal on all aspects of human mobility, founded in 1966. IMR is internationally regarded as the principal journal in the field and reaches subscribers in 87 countries around the world. Click here to view contents of latest edition.

The Center for Migration Studies of New York maintains a specialized library on international migration, refugees and ethnic groups. Formally organized in 1970, the library's holdings comprise one of the major, if not the principal collection worldwide devoted to the international movement of peoples. It includes over 22,000 volumes, 200 periodicals, 600 dissertations, 215 newsletters, 60 ethnic newspapers, 1800 conference papers, and 3000 journal article reprints.
